We hope you will join the Transforming Power Project! Sponsored by AVP, free weekend workshops are being scheduled through December, 2023 and likely into the future. Dates for these FREE summer workshops are listed below.

Please complete this survey to help us

schedule additional summer workshops.

AVP is an association of community, school and prison-based groups offering experiential workshops in personal growth, trauma recovery, empathy, nonviolence and creative conflict management. In the past 50 years AVP has spread to over 60 countries and is in schools, refugee camps, conflict zones, gang intervention programs, drug recovery centers, and prisons and jails worldwide. AVP encourages every person’s innate power to positively transform first themselves and then the world.

Please Consider Joining the AVP community! AVP workshops create opportunities for connection, trust and transformative learning through interactive experiences, self-reflection and FUN! After experiencing AVP, staff at Evergreen and New Start (soon to be Innovation Heights!) are bringing AVP facilitators into their schools this coming school year.

With the completion of the Introductory Workshop, participants are eligible to join an Advanced Workshop. After the completion of two Advanced Workshops, participants can attend the Facilitator Training Workshop to become part of a paid facilitator cadre. A Facilitator Workshop will be offered in August, prior to the start of the next school year.

Schools can also sign up groups of 15-25 for a customized workshop of 20-24 hours with three skilled facilitators for a total cost of $3500. (50 staff would cost $7000, etc) HEA is working with AVP to locate alternative funding sources for schools and community groups.

In the meantime, contact me for more information and please reach out to your SLT/Curriculum Committee to propose accessing your Building Curriculum Fund (Budget #020J-27-LOC-4281). This is described in Appendix D (Letter M) of your CBA. Some schools may still have substantial funds that  could be used prior to August 31. Otherwise, next year’s Curriculum Committee could opt to use these funds on this training.

M. Building Curriculum Fund: The building staff shall form a curriculum  committee in order to determine the expenditure of this fund, which may  include acquiring substitutes or compensating HEA staff for  developing/integrating new curriculum or programs. The building staff shall  annually review the process for accessing this fund. Each school shall be  allocated (based on enrollment on October 1 of current school year) annually a  building curriculum fund as follows:

1. High schools $5,500  2. Middle schools $3,500

Elementary schools and small high schools:

3. <400 $2,000 4. 400 – 499 $2,500 5. 500 – 599 $3,000 6. >600 $3,500
